The Great Wall of China is surely one of the World’s most impressive historical landmarks, but there’s much more to this behemoth country.
Explore its different regions by plane and train, and experience the different cultures of each area. A multi-day discovery trip could be the perfect way to learn more about this fascinating country.
Start in the thought provoking modern capital, Beijing, and watch the cityscape change from the ultra modern skyscrapers to the ancient palaces as you reach its centre. Laid out like a giant chess board, Tiananmen Square lies at it’s heart, and the nearby Coal Hill is the perfect place to watch the sunset over the City.
Explore the narrow hutongs by rickshaw, and stop for lunch in a locals restaurant. Then head out to the Great Wall and hike several stages, including the newly preserved and the ancient and crumbling.
Then take an internal flight to Chengdu and spend time with the Giant Panda’s. Work on a conservation project for these gentle giants and interact with them at feeding time.
Finally, finish the trip even further South, mountain biking around the picturesque Erhai Lake. You can see local fisherman using the ancient method of cormorant fishing, using specially trained birds to catch fish.
There really are limitless options for activities.
