Very few people visit this enormous, inhospitable island sandwiched between Europe and the U.S. But despite it’s icy appearance, you’ll be amazed by the warmth and hospitality of it’s inhabitants, and of course by its rugged beauty.
The flight to Greenland is, in itself, an exciting start to the trip. Descending to Ilulissat, your first sight will be the small, brightly painted buildings perched above the fjord.
Staying overnight in one of the unique igloo style cabins, the day begins as you open your curtains to reveal the cliffs of Disko Bay and the colossal icebergs as they float by.
Then board your private boat to visit a small Inuit settlement and learn about the harsh realities of life in these Northerly latitudes.
Lunch will be waiting at a local restaurant, which serves traditional meals sourced and caught locally, including musk ox, lamb and reindeer, and fish caught in the ocean around Disko Bay.
In the afternoon you can meet a local hunter and his dog team, before experiencing dog sledding for yourself.
Round off the day with a spectacular boat ride around the fjord in the midnight sun, and enjoy a glass of champagne whilst taking in the views in this unforgiving environment.
